Abu Dhabi’s Yas Island was host to thousands of Age-Group world triathletes last week for the World Triathlon Championship Finals, to mark the end of an exciting year of Age Group World Championship racing.
The multi-day event crowned World Champions across Elite, U23, Para and Age-Group categories, with the UAE, the host country, putting on an incredible showcase of high-energy from the get-go, welcoming triathletes from over 53 nations to Abu Dhabi at the sunset-soaked, vibrant Yas Bay Waterfront.
Team Australia athletes joined nearly 500 Age-Group world triathletes to contest the 2022 World Triathlon Age-Group Super Sprint World Championships, nearly 1,000 world triathletes in the 2022 World Triathlon Age-Group Standard Distance World Championships and over 200 athletes in the 2022 World Triathlon Age-Group Aquabike World Championships with great success.
Four Australian team members were among those crowned as World Champions, with Dominic Churchett (M25-29) and Linda Meredith (F65-69) named World Super Sprint Champions, and Jordan Gover (M50-54) and Rowland Cook (M70-74) named World Standard Distance Aquabike Champions.
The excitement, fun and enthusiasm did not stop for the entire festival, with incredible results, comradery and sportsmanship shown by the entire Australian Team contingent.
Congratulations to all members of Team Australia.
