Finish Lines Not Finish Times Events Wraps up for season 2022/2023

The end of the season is the ideal time to stop, pause, and reflect on the third year of our highly successful ‘Finish Lines…Not Finish Times’ (FLNFT) program, all possible thanks to the wonderful support of the NSW Government via the Office of Sport and their ‘Her Sport Her Way’ Grant program.

The program has proven hugely successful since it’s inception (prior to COVID-19) and the FLNFT program was recently profiled at the Office or Sports Showstopper event, with learning and teaching being shared with other sports and State Sporting Organisations around NSW.

Of course, none of the success of the program would be possible without the clubs and their volunteers who make it happen. In 2022/2023, 21 clubs applied for an put their hand up to deliver this program, some of whom have now conducted this for the past four years.

A quick snap shop of the program in season 2022/2023:

  • 21 clubs delivered training programs and events around NSW including 13 in regional locations.

  • A total of 685 women took part in this program, with 53% of those having done their very first triathlon or multisport event ever. That’s 364-brand new first timer females now being ‘TRIATHLETES’!

  • 96% of those who took part in this program advised us via post event survey’s that they wish to continue their multisport journey with 34% wanting to join their local triathlon club in season 2023/2024.

  • 57.78% of participants advise us they are now ‘far more active’ or ‘More Active’ then they were before their participation in the program.

  • 73% confirmed they felt confident to take part in the ‘Finish Lines…Not Finish Times’ program because of the supportive environment the club created.

  • 32% of ladies advised us it was the personal challenge of setting themselves and goal and completing it that was most satisfying and what motivated them most.

Some testimonials and awesome feedback we received on this year’s program via the survey’s include:

  • “I really enjoyed the event & I might look at doing some more enticer distance events in the upcoming season” – Liz, Hills Triathlon Club First time participant.

  • "The women's only events were a fabulous entry level into multisport. There was no ego, we felt comfortable asking difficult questions, it was a lot of fun. The club held a similar even in 2021 and each year they just keep getting stronger!!!!" Louise, Port Macquarie Triathlon Club program participant.

  • “The Newcastle Triathlon Club ran an awesome event! The people were amazing and welcoming and I loved everything about this. For anyone on the fence, unsure or nervous, don’t be! I would definitely recommend”. Jane, Newcastle Triathlon Club Participant.
