Top 10 Reasons to Renew Your Membership!

Season 20/21 is fast approaching as the outlook looks brighter every day!

Whilst season 2019/2020 was cut short prematurely due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, we remain filled with cautious optimism that season 2020/2021 will feature plenty of local racing, training and club activities. And we are also hopeful that larger commercial events will return in due course as well.

We all accept that things might look a bit different moving forward, with social distancing measures in place at training and events to keep everyone safe for some time to come, but as the NSW Government eases restrictions, the outlook looks brighter every day and our sport is well placed to return to a new ‘normal’.

With membership renewal fast approaching, we thought it was a good idea to outline the top 10 reasons for you to renew your membership and re-join us in season 2020 / 2021!

1. Triathlon NSW Affiliated Clubs are awesome and offer priceless benefits.

Clubs are the heartbeat of the sport, the centre of everything we do as an organisation, and for most of our wonderful members, the main reason to renew your membership. Clubs run local races, trainings sessions, social events and are a great way to find likeminded individuals who love everything about running, cycling and swimming!

2. A full return to Club / Community training and racing from July 1st.

On Wednesday 10th June, the Acting Minister of Sport, Hon Geoff Lee made the announcement that all community sport can return from July 1st. The NSW Government is currently working on checklists and guidelines due for release later this week. Combined with Triathlon Australia’s return to racing document, released last week, season 2020/2021 is shaping up to be bigger and better then ever!

3. For those who can, now is the time to support your club and association.

For those who are able renew, now more than ever, your membership is an investment into Triathlon NSW and your club and the future viability and financial sustainability. Your membership renewal will go a long way to ensuring we survive COVID-19 and come out the other side with our association and sport, intact.

Triathlon NSW and the staff make the commitment that we will repay your faith in the short to medium term future and will work tirelessly, to grow the sport across this great state of ours.

4. Season 2020/2021 will feature not one but two (2) Club Champs events in Forster, NSW.

Tri NSW, supported by our wonderful Race Director Partner, Elite Energy, were on track for the largest Club Champs in its 30+ year history. But we still anticipate Saturday 19th September to be a celebration of everything that’s great about our clubs and sport and with over 800 people already registered, it’s going to be wonderful.

Things might be slightly different, but at its core it is still about clubs and their athletes representing and earning points for their clubs. Ensure that date is still in your diary with a massive red circle around it, to ensure you do not forget and book something nowhere near as fun for that weekend.

5. Piece of mind that comes with coverage under Triathlon Australia’s insurance scheme

It’s often spoke about in cafes or during long runs & rides.  The value of taking out a Triathlon Australia membership and the insurance offered. But the vast majority of triathletes will think nothing of spending a few hundred dollars on an helmet, to keep their head safe whilst training and racing on their bikes. And off course, this is not a bad thing! But whilst your helmet protects your head, your Triathlon Australia membership and insurance coverage actually protects your entire body, in case of an accident.

Public liability and personal accident insurance cover while you are racing in sanctioned events and training for sanctioned events for the duration of your membership.

6. Earn participation and performance points in your NSW interclub Series.

With a bumper ICS03, featuring races that were postponed from ICS02 and two Club Champs, TNSW clubs will compete against other clubs in their region or in their league.

The revised format in Sydney has all clubs broken into three divisions, with a European football style promotion / relegation concept introduced, thanks to the influence of our English football loving Operations Manager, Chris C. This ensures clubs and their athletes have more interest, later in the season.

TNSW hopes the New England region will run again, with a few more races thrown in, as well North Coast, South Coast and the Central West.

They will also include the MVP – Most Valuable Performer’ tally’s again, which is set to grow in prestige and popularity over time.

To earn participation and performance points, you must be an annual member!

7. Triathlon NSW Individual State Championships Events.

Triathlon NSW will once again be conducting a series of Individual NSW State Championships events, which is the ideal place to etch your name in eternal glory as the NSW Individual Champion across a set distance.

Last season, we ‘upped the ante’ by creating a history of all events, which will remain on our website for ever, ensuring that your name remains ‘in lights’.

We offer five different distances, to ensure our entire community has a chance to take part. Including a Duathlon, Standard Distance, Sprint, Aquathon and Long Course event will be announced in late June, meaning there are now five events for you to compete and win!

8. Save on One Day Licenses

Based on internal research and industry averages, Triathlon NSW members race at three commercial / club events each season. Being a member of Triathlon NSW / Australia will save you real cash by not having to purchase those pesky One Day License fees.

With the majority of racing in our state scheduled to commence in September, and with the continued lifting of restrictions, we are hopeful that not only will season 2020 / 2021 be a full season, but even bigger then normal with  7 large commercial events having to reschedule to September.
