Triathlon ACT has hit the ground running in the inaugural year of its Junior Development Pathway Program.
The three-tiered Triathlon NSW / Triathlon ACT Pathway Programs have commenced with online inductions and education sessions. The inductions were facilitated by Robyn Low-Hart Coach Education and Pathway Lead TNSW/TACT with the assistance of Brendan Sexton, Triathlon Australia National Talent Development Coach. The Pathway Programs includes holistic education, with the TACT athletes having already attended a Mobility Education Session and Media Training online. Some of the best consultants in these areas were utilised to provide education in engaging formats online.
The racing focus of the Pathway will be the Billigence Pathway Championship Series (BPCS), eight races in both NSW and ACT, provided by local clubs and race directors. The BPCS provides athletes with high level competition usually found at the National Level, accessed more locally. Eligible athletes will also have racing opportunities at the National Level in various states of Australia. Racing is the best form of training, where athletes can learn and develop. These racing opportunities are an important part in the development of pathway athletes.
Robyn Low-Hart said, “It is exciting for ACT to commence the Pathway Program in conjunction with the robust TNSW Program. The program will afford the ACT athletes opportunities to develop and learn the aspects of triathlon with skills being a focal point. The athletes will develop tactical, technical, physiological and psychological skills that will enhance their development in the pathway. The ACT program will provide education that will not only assist athletes in the sport but assist with life in general. I am excited to be working with the ACT athletes and look forward to the resumption of racing and round one of the BPCS in the upcoming weeks”.
