The In2Adventure team brought triathlon to the muddy shores of Lake Kurwongbah over March 24-25 for the Trex Back2Back Enduro. The enduro format allowed athletes to demonstrate their endurance and tenacity, combining their results from two days of racing.
Day one saw athletes complete a hardcore 350m swim / 10km mountain bike / 4km run / 350m swim / 10km mountain bike / 4km run before coming back on day two to do it all over again.
As race 15 of the 2017/18 Nissan State Series, athletes were vying for line honours, as well as Championship points in the coveted series to give them an edge ahead of the finale at Moreton Bay Triathlon in April.
In hot, muddy conditions, Simon Nendick (Redcliffe Triathlon Club) backed up his National Championship from a few weeks ago with a win in the 40-44 category, while Max McGovern from Ballina Tri Club finished just behind for a win in the 30-34 category.
Connie Silvestri had a ripper race, completing the two days of racing in 3 hrs 28min, winning the 40-44 age category.
