The Queensland Standard Distance Championships welcomed hot conditions on the Gold Coast at the Queensland Triathlon Series Round 5 – held at Robina.
The event marked the first event for many athletes for 2023 and would reward those who had put in the training over the holiday season in preparation for this years State Standard Distance Championships. It was great to see all age groups well represented with the lure of the State Championship title up for the taking. In addition to this years State Standard Distance Championship title, there was also valuable State Series points for those targeting the 2022/23 State Series.
The course at Robina always provides a great opportunity for athletes and spectators to keep track of the action with competitors out on course tackling the multi loop course. While being a calm water swim with a flat and fast bike and run, there is always the challenge of U-turns and the heat to contest with making this a truly championships worthy course with fast times.
A big congratulations to all those who lined up and took up the challenge of the State Standard Distance Championships at Robina and an extra special congratulations to our newly crowned State Standard Distance Champions.
