Triathlon NSW and Triathlon ACT is excited to announce a continuation of the partnership with Palladium Property and Property Development Insights (PDI).
The financial support afforded by this wonderful partner will allow a continued investment into the future of the aligned Triathlon NSW / Triathlon ACT pathway and our athletes as they strive for Olympic, Commonwealth and World Championship gold in the Mixed Relay (MR) format of the sport in the next 12 years.
The Mixed Relay made its Olympic debut in Tokyo 2020. This new format of the sport is fast, draft legal and super technical. It showcases racing at its most thrilling, with athletes’ individual skills now on the line with their teammates.
Among the most exciting aspects of these races for spectators is the athletes’ dramatic sprint and dive after their teammate finishes, as well as the intensity and speed from start to finish, the tight back-and-forth lead changes and team pride that this innovative racing format elicits.
With more gold medal opportunities for Aussies at International events, Triathlon NSW and Triathlon ACT has included a Mixed Relay format in its Pathway racing schedule for a few years now to compliment the growing opportunities for our Juniors and U23’s at Mixed Relay Team Invitational events hosted by Triathlon Australia.
The upcoming TNSW / TACT Super Sprint Race Weekend, hosted by Orange Triathlon Club at Gosling Creek Reservoir, will once again host our State Mixed Team Relay Championships. Designed to expose our athletes to this unique format of racing and provide them invaluable experience in this event, this weekend's event has the additional benefit of being the selection event for the Mixed Relay Teams.
Both TNSW and TACT pride ourselves on our ability to constantly evolve. TNSW / TACT Coach Education & Pathway Manager Robyn Low Hart is continuing the work done previously and providing further focus into this type of racing. It is our unashamed goal to support pathway athletes to their goals of representing Australia in Paris 2024, Los Angles 2028 & Brisbane 2032.
Palladium Property and their Managing Director, Phillip Hoare is a passionate short-course triathlete and was thrilled to align his company with this program. Palladium Property offers expertise and experience across a range of property categories, focusing on energy efficient mixed industrial-commercial use, mixed use residential, office, shopping centres, bulky goods, childcare / indoor play centres and industrial/logistic facilities. Phillip has enthusiastically thrown his support behind our future stars which we are extremely grateful for.
When asked for a comment, Phillip reiterated that Palladium Property is delighted to be the continued sponsor of the TNSW / TACT Youth / Junior / U23 Elite Mixed Team Relay Teams, to support future young triathletes in their future quest for international and Olympic medals in this fast and furious race format.
Phillip commented “It is very encouraging to hear the excitement that the Tokyo Olympic Triathlon Mixed Team Relay race created with the Australian public. The fast and furious format in true team spirit, where the lead changes constantly, seems to be the future of triathlon racing able to increase the sport’s appeal to the younger generation, and Palladium Property is thrilled to play a minor part!”
The No 1. TNSW / TACT MR (2 males and 2 females) teams will be selected across the Junior, Youth and U23 divisions in Orange during the MR races, on November 27th. The selection of these 12 athletes, which also factors in transition times as a key selection criterion, will occur as set out in the selection policy recently endorsed by the Triathlon NSW and Triathlon ACT Board.
The inclusion of transition times in the selection process was deliberately done to place emphasis on the critical role transition skills plays in future MTR success and was acknowledged by athletes and their coaches. It’s the technical skills required to move between swim, bike and run fast and error-free that makes the Mixed Team Relay format so distinctly unique. Hence the additional focus on this ‘fourth discipline’ in the selection of the teams.
Athletes, parents and coaches are encouraged to take some time to review the selection and appeals policy document.
Geoff Bartlett, Triathlon ACT CEO added his thoughts about the new initiative and partnership by stating, “I am thrilled that our ACT athletes now have the opportunity to compete as part of the NSW/ACT pathway with the support and backing of Palladium Property. A local business of this nature provides support to us which, in turn, allows us to invest in the future champions of the sport.’
The Palladium Property logo will be proudly displayed in their apparel, and the teams will be known as the:
- ‘Palladium Property’ TNSW / TACT Youth Mixed Relay Team
- ‘Palladium Property’ TNSW / TACT Junior Mixed Relay Team
- ‘Palladium Property’ TNSW / TACT U23 Mixed Relay Team
