Abu Dhabi will host the first World Triathlon Series race of 2017 on March 3rd.   Australians Gillian Backhouse (QLD),  Charlotte McShane (NSW), Marcel Walkington (VIC) and Matthew Baker (NSW) will all feature on the start line. 

With a venue move from the Corniche to Yas Island, Abu Dhabi promises a superb technical course, incorporating part of the Formula One track, Yas Waterworld and Ferrari World.

 

Queenslander Gillian Backhouse will kick off her ITU season in the hunt for Commonwealth Games selection.   With 49 starts to date in ITU races, Backhouse who was second in the OUT standard distance event in Devonport last year, finished 19th in Abu Dhabi last year.
