JUNIOR DEVELOPMENT

TRIATHLON CLUBS & COACHES

As part of the Regional Junior Development Program (RJDP), Triathlon Queensland and the RJDP clubs and their club-based junior athletes collaborate to deliver development and engagement opportunities for athletes within the RJDP regions.

The development activities include competition days and clinics aimed to include training opportunities, education, networking and racing experience for junior athletes and coaches within the region.

Many Queensland clubs provide junior training environments, including weekly training and access to Triathlon Australia Accredited coaches.

Junior clubs have a focus on building the fundamental skills for development and triathlon and will help you to:

  • Reach your goals under the guidance of a junior coach
  • Plan your training and race calendar
  • Develop your knowledge of the sport
  • Access skills clinics and camps
  • Enjoy your triathlon experience

To find a junior club and/or coach near you, please visit the Clubs page on the Triathlon Queensland website found here

QUEENSLAND TEAM

TRIATHLON PATHWAYS

Triathlon Queensland selects a Triathlon Queensland State Team to support Queensland athlete development and  representation at national and international triathlon events. The team is selected for a period of the specified season, in accordance with the Triathlon Queensland Selection Policy.

The Triathlon Queensland State Team program is designed to facilitate the exposure of young athletes to the triathlon racing environment including racing in the Australian Youth Junior U23 Triathlon Series. The program is outlined as such to replicate the requirements of elite racing to prepare them for the demands of the sport at that level, such as competition and travel and to increase the athletes' knowledge in areas such as goal setting, communication with stakeholders and season planning.
