ABOUT TECHNICAL OFFICIALS

BENEFITS OF BECOMING A TECHNICAL OFFICIAL

Local technical officials (LTO) operate on site at triathlons throughout Queensland and nationally to ensure events are run safely and fairly for all competitors.

Through volunteering as an official, you'll gain a unique insight into how triathlons and major sporting events are managed, and learn valuable transferable skills. All training is offered free of charge and you'll also receive a financial contribution each time you volunteer to cover your costs.

  • You'll build and hone strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Gain confidence in decision making, and learn to assess risk in a practical sense, particularly as it relates to the operation of sporting events.
  • Your accreditation as a triathlon technical official is recognised by the Australian Sports Commission.

UPCOMING TECHNICAL OFFICIAL COURSES

WHAT IS AN LTO COURSE

Local technical official courses are run in across different regions of Queensland based on demand.

Please contact carol.wooldridge@triathlon.org.au if you have any questions and for more information on upcoming courses near you.

Participation in a Local Technical Official (LTO) Course involves attending a workshop that runs for approximately 4 hours, completing an open book exam covering the race competition rules and completing one practical session by officiating at a sanctioned race event. Upon successful completion, your name will be added to the state/national register.

You must be at least 18 years old to qualify.
