City of Armadale Duathlon to host Australian Championship

Aus Champs Duathlon

On Sunday, 2 October 2016 over 700 competitors will participate in the City of Armadale Duathlon as part of their bid for Australian Champion Status and selection into the 2017 Australian World Duathlon Team.

The race, which is held at Champion Lakes Regatta Centre is a run-bike-run format and includes three distances - the long course, short course and Tadpoles race for kids.

It is a part of the Triathlon Australia National Calendar and will host the Australian Duathlon Championships for Age Group triathletes as well as the Australian Elite Duathlon Championship.

As an Australian Championship, double points can be earned towards selection in the Australian Age Group World Championships Team, and automatic selection for athletes who place first in their Age Group.

Event Manager, Lachlan Matthews is excited that the event is once again part of the National Series.

“It’s always a fantastic atmosphere at Champion Lakes when you know that the best athletes in the world are competing,” said Lachlan.

“The world qualifying points that are up for grabs makes the race even more exciting – everyone tries to find that extra ten per-cent left in the tank. Best of all, the venue is exceptional for spectators so it’s an event that the community can come down and support.”

The field is likely to include exciting interstate athletes as well as WA’s top competitors.

Online entries close Friday, 30 September 2016 at midday.
