Club Championships – North Queensland return to Townsville Triathlon & Multisport Festival for 2022

2021 Scody North QLD Club Championships

The 2022 Scody Club Championships – North Queensland will take place at the Townsville Triathlon and Multisport Festival on Saturday 27 & Sunday 28 August 2022.

For triathlon clubs in North Queensland, there is no bigger stage than the Scody Club Championships – North Queensland. With $5,000 in cash and prizes up for the taking for the top-3 North Queensland triathlon clubs, every single club member will be out in force to secure their club as many points as possible.

Last year’s top-3 Scody North Queensland Club Championship clubs are all expected to be return. At the 2021 championships, it was Tri-ActiV8 who was able to come together to take out the top spot on the podium. Many eyes will be focused on the Townsville Triathlon Club who were runner up to Tri-ActiV8 in 2021, but will have a home course advantage in 2022 which they will be hoping will help them to climb one spot higher on the podium.

Mathew Sundstrom, Head of QLD State Services – Triathlon Australia said ‘we are very excited to have the opportunity to partner with the Townsville Triathlon and Multisport Festival for the 2022 Scody Club Championships - North Queensland. This is the perfect venue to host our North Queensland clubs as the Townsville region continues to build towards the 2024 Multisport World Championships'.

'The friendly club competition between our North Queensland club members is sure to see some great battles unfold. If the past history of the Scody Club Championships – North Queensland is anything to go by, there are often only a handful of points separating many of the clubs so each and every club member will count’.

The race will also be proudly hosting the Australian Championship for Aquathlon and Sprint Duathlon plus a qualifying event for the Standard Distance, 2022 World Triathlon (formerly ITU) Age Group World Championships.

The City of Townsville continues to prepare for the 2024 World Triathlon Multisport World Championships where those competing will get a first-hand sneak peek at the course before these World Championships in 2024.
