Queensland Clubs turned out in droves for last Sunday's Nissan Club Championships.  Members from 45 of Queensland's 62 affiliated clubs took to the start line, earning points for their club in the quest to win prize money in the Nissan Club Championships.

With a $9000 cash prize pool provided by major sponsor Nissan, clubs were able to win in 2 ways - outright winner in the small, medium and large categories; or aggregate winner (total points divided by club member numbers). 

Club size breakdowns:
Small 15-50 members
Medium 51-120 members
Large 121+ members.

Points were earned in a number of ways - by placing in a race category, by participating, by volunteering or by being a technical official for the event.

The Small Club winner for this year was Vision Tri Club.  With 39 members, they accrued 109 points, almost double their closest competition.  Vision Tri Club was awarded $1000 for winning this category.

Be-Energetic Tri and Run Club, a predominantly junior club, took out the Medium Club Award, earning 220 points, more than double their closest competitor.  Be-Energetic only have 52 members, pushing them just into the Medium category, however their great club participation rate earned them enough points to win their category outright.

Red Dog Triathlon Training, Triathlon Queensland's fourth largest affiliated club, again took out the Large Club Category.  Taking home the $3000 cash prize, Red Dog members amassed a total of 450 points.

The Aggregate Championships, which are awarded to the top three clubs using the formula of total points divided by total club members (not competitors at the event).  This year's top three were: Be-Energetic Tri and Run Club (taking home $1500), Vision Tri Club ($1000) and third, Starfish Tri-Athletic Club.
