Scody Club Championships - North Queensland

Queensland's clubs based on and north of the Tropic of Capricorn will return to Townsville Tri Festival for the second instalment of the Scody Club Championships - North Queensland over the Big Weekend of events from 18 - 20 August 2017.

Club members can earn points across six events over the weekend including; Kids TRY, Tri4Women, Team Relay TRI, Enticer TRI, Sprint TRI and the Classic TRI.

Australian owned and operated performance apparel company, Scody, have put up a $5,000 valued prize pool for the event and say club pride is at the heart of what they do.

"There's nothing greater than that team feeling on race day and wearing your club suit with pride, and celebrating each other's successes. Helping clubs wear that pride on their sleeve is what drives our commitment to providing a custom range and service.

We are excited to support club pride on show at the Scody Club Championships - North Queensland again this year."

Sally Teiniker, Triathlon Queensland’s club liaison, says the Scody Club Championships - North Queensland plays an important role in bringing the triathlon community together in North and Central Queensland.

"We are looking forward to seeing clubs in full force at Townsville and supporting our developing clubs in the North. There is nothing like a bit of friendly inter-club competition – it brings a team element to a mostly individual sport.  It’s a great weekend out, awesome atmosphere and there will be plenty of competition for the title."

The return of the Standard Distance will add variety for athletes this year, as the event plays host to Race 4 of the Nissan State Series and this year holds the alluring status of a Triathlon Australia ITU World Championship Qualifying Race for the 2018 Standard Distance World Championships on the Gold Coast.

Triathlon Australia CEO, multi World and Champion Olympian Miles Stewart will headline Carbs with the Stars on Friday night.

There is plenty on the line at Townsville over the Big Weekend of events and with unlimited racing for just $150 you can enjoy the best the North has to offer. Check out all the racing packages at www.townsvilletrifestival.org.au
