Gold Coast will play host to hot weekend of racing

Gold Coast's Robina will play host to a hot weekend of racing.  With Race 2 of the Australian Youth | Junior | U23 Triathlon Series, the Australian Sprint Distance Championship race and the Australian Paratriathlon Championships being contested.  The race, and the weather, will be blistering!
 
Saturday afternoon's racing will see the Under 23's race for the first time in the AYJU23 triathlon series, with Youth Olympic Champion Brittany Dutton and Youth Olympian Jack van Steckelberg taking the start line.  The draft legal event will comprise of 2 back to back races, with the athlete's combined times determining the overall winner.
 
Liam McCoach and Lorcan Redmond, the current points tally leaders, will again go head to head in the race to gain crucial points for the series.  The women's event will see current leader Joanne Miller hoping to keep her lead against Western Australia's Jessica Claxton and Kira Hedgeland.
 
The sold out Sunday event will see athletes from across Australia compete for the Australian Age Group Sprint Distance Title, as well as qualifying points for the ITU World Championships to be held in Rotterdam later this year.
 
On the start line in the Sprint distance race, Queensland has 8 defending champions - Laura Dennis, Troy Ruston, Damien Bulters, Brad Dalrymple, Gail Murphy, Jenny Alcorn, Greg Bush and Peter Mathews.  
 
Hosting the Australian Paratriathlon Championships for the second year, The Event Crew's race in Robina will showcase the speed and power of our para-athletes.  Taking the starting line in the Australian Paratriathlon Championships are Queenslanders Sara Tait, Gerard Gosens and Olympian Bill Chaffey.
