The IRONMAN 70.3 World Championships descended on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, with Mooloolaba playing host to the first Ironman 70.3 World Championships in Australia.
Australia's team of 838 athletes was the largest team ever represented at the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championships and they produced some extraordinary results racing with team pride.
Reddog Triathlon's Kieran Storch ran into a well earned silver medal in a field of 82 athletes with a time of 04:10:15.
It was a great day out for Queensland in the women's race with Mel Hauschildt overcoming a 3min 45sec deficit following the swim to take out second place in the PROS.
Personal Best Triathlon Club's Jacqueline Henricks came away with Gold in the 30-34 Age Group, conquering a massive field of 159 athletes with a finishing time of 04:34:26.
Live2Tri's Rebecca East's efforts were rewarded with a Silver in the 45-49 Age Group after finishing the 70.3 course in 05:01:36.
Surfers Paradise Triathlon Club's Coach Jenny Alcorn leads her club by example with a Silver medal performance, after finishing in 05:10:43.
Noosa Triathlon Club's Hazel Edmond raced on familiar surroundings to secure second place in the 65-69 Age Group stopping the clock at 06:06:31.
Kate Grattan from Southport Triathlon Club finished third in the 35-39 with time of 04:46:45.
Australia finished with a final combined medal tally for Elite, Age Group and Paratriathlon World Championships of 11 gold, 9 silver and 8 bronze.
