Queenslanders Annabel Luxford and Carrie Lester will be on the Pro Women start list for this Saturday's Ironman New Zealand. Luxford has just come off a win at Ironman 70.3 in Geelong, however the women's field includes stellar athletes, including 5 time winner Meredith Kessler.
There are no Queensland males are on the Pro start list, however 12 time winner Cam Brown will have the home crowd behind him.
For the age group race, Triathlon Queensland athletes are well represented, from Stacey Roduner in the 18-24 age group through to George Hulse in the 75-79. 40 Kona qualifying spots will be up for the taking for age group athletes, as well as 10 places for the Military divisions.
There will also be an age group only IM70.3 race being run concurrently with the full Ironman.
The picturesque course, swimming in Lake Taupo, riding in the undulating forest and farm lands surrounding the lake and a lake side run make this a must-do event for triathletes.
