Triathlon Queensland is excited to announce a new partnership with Maurice Blackburn Lawyers.

Andrew McKenzie, Principal at Maurice Blackburn, said the partnership is a natural fit for the firm and the connection with Triathlon Queensland has sparked excitement in their offices across Queensland, with some challenges being laid down internally and new tri teams formed.

We have built this partnership on common values, and we look forward to ensuring Queenslanders and triathletes know their rights as a cyclist and have access to the best possible legal advice whenever they need,” Mr McKenzie said.

In our line of work we see the aftermath of many tragic accidents that could have been prevents with better education of road users.  This is why Maurice Blackburn supports a wide range of national road safety campaigns and we were heavily involved in securing the minimum mandatory distance trial in Queensland,” explains Mr McKenzie.

Maurice Blackburn are committed to being Australia’s leading road safety law firm and are delighted to support the sixty-eight Triathlon Queensland clubs and over 5,500 individual members should the need arise.

Tim Harradine, Executive Director of Triathlon Queensland said this partnership has been key for not only member value but assistance in lobbying for continued focus on cycle safety.

“To have a partner with the influence of Maurice Blackburn, and for our members to know that there is a service there should they need it, is central to the partnership,” said Harradine.

“There’s an incredibly strong alignment between our two organisations’ commitment to safe cycling and further growing a sport with all the health and wellness attributes triathlon embodies.”

As road safety advocates the partnership was sparked from recognising the need to better equip the triathlon community with the tools to share the road and importantly know their rights on the road. Maurice Blackburn will be providing Triathlon Queensland members with dedicated fact sheets, informing cyclists of what to do in an accident and post the accident, which will be available on the Triathlon Queensland website.
