If there’s one thing Queenslanders know best, it’s how to take out a spot or two on a triathlon podium; or in this case 19 spots. Queensland athletes raced the off road track down south in the spectacular Snowy Mountains over the weekend for the 2015/16 Australian Cross Tri Championship where nine Queensland triathletes came away as a National Champion and ten with a silver or bronze placing. The off road event hosted by In2Adventure included a 1.5km swim in Lake Crackenback, 30km of mountain biking and a 10km trail run.
The weekend’s event marks the third of four qualifying races for the 2016 Snowy Mountains ITU Cross Triathlon World Championships which is set to return to Lake Crackenback later this year, on the 19th November 2016. The final chance to qualify for the World Championships will be right here in Queensland at the TreX X-Tri Championships: Sunshine Coast held on the 16-17 April 2016, where competitors could also take out the coveted Triathlon Queensland State Championship Title.
Congratulations to all Queensland cross triathletes, podium finishers and the 2016 Cross Tri National Champions.
