Results from Kona: Sarah Crowley led the Aussie performances with an amazing 3rd place finish

The KONA race was held over the weekend, where it saw a  combination of the three toughest endurance races in Hawai’i—the 2.4-mile Waikiki Roughwater Swim, 112 miles of the Around-O’ahu Bike Race and the 26.2-mile Honolulu Marathon—into one event.

The pinnacle event of Ironman racing took place on Saturday in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii for the 2019 Vega Ironman World Championships which saw our very own Sarah Crowley from Red Dog Triathlon Training lead the Aussie performances posting the 5th fastest swim, 6th fastest bike and 4th fastest run and come away with an amazing 3rd place!

Athlete Carrie Lester, from Sunshine Coast Triathlon Academy, also showed her form in this grueling race to finish within the top 10 in 7th position, equaling her career best performance.

Congratulations to all Queensland athletes who conquered the searing heat to claim the title of being an Ironman!
