Following a 9-race series the 2021/22 State Series has been decided and the winners announced. It was great to see athletes targeting State Series glory, accumulating points throughout the season over a diverse range of events including Long Distance, Standard Distance, Sprint Distance, Aquathlon, Duathlon and Cross Triathlon. Unfortunately, there was one event that was not able to go ahead this season with the State Aqua Bike Championships cancelled due to the unprecedented flooding events during what was meant to be the Tweed Coast Enduro weekend.
This year’s State Series was true challenge for the multisport athlete and a testament of all round performance, versatility and endurance across the season. With just a few points separating many of the top spots on the State Series leader board as well as in some cases a tie for the title, the 2021/22 State Series was one of the closest and hotly contested in its rich history.
Taking out the overall State Series Champion this year was Penny Ivory with 82 points with the Age Group Male and Female Champions Phil Davie and Penny Ivory. The U16 Female Champion was Harriet Bowen (7-8 age category) with Bowen Bamford (14-15 age category) taking home the U16 Male State Series Champion title.
Stay tuned for the launch of our 2022/23 State Series!

Who is your Champion of Queensland?
With the 2021/22 State Series wrapped up for this season, we now invite you to nominate your 'Champions of Queensland'. Triathlon Queensland invites staff, members, clubs, and other interested parties to nominate someone who meets the criteria for these awards at the end of each season.
The Triathlon Queensland 'Champions of Queensland' awards recognise the achievement, dedication and passion for our sport by athletes, administrators, officials and volunteers all across Queensland.
Each year the Champions of Queensland Awards will be presented in person where possible with trophies awarded to those who are selected in each category. The presentation will celebrate all of our major award winners, and will also include the crowning of the State Series Age Group Champions.
