Triathlon gets dirty this weekend

Triathletes from around Australia descend on Landsborough on the Sunshine Coast for the Australian Cross Triathlon Championships, the Queensland Cross Triathlon Championships and race ten of the Nissan State Series this weekend.

The event, which has distances to suit kids through to those wishing to qualify for the World Championships this year, is set amongst some of the Sunshine Coast hinterland's most stunning areas.  Swimming in the Ewan Maddock Dam, riding and running along the single track and fire trails on the Beerwah State Forrest, athletes are treated to fast, challenging, outside-the-comfort-zone racing.

As one of only two selection races for the Australian team heading to the ITU Multisport World Championships in Penticton, Canada in mid August this year, this race will draw in those wishing to don the green and gold.

With just 4 races to go in the Nissan State Series, the race for overall male winner is wide open.  Current leader, Phil Davies and second place Justin Gordon are not on the entry list to date, leaving Luke Harvey and Dean Cane (both entered) to earn valuable points.  Trudy Graham (not entered) still holds a commanding lead, but as an athlete's top five results across the 13 race series are combined, there is plenty of opportunity for others to take the overall Nissan State Series title. (Entries as at 6/2/17)

For those looking to really test their off road skills, there are a host of additional events including trail runs and XC mountain bike, and the new Aqua-Bike event to choose from.  More information can be found here: In2Adventure
