It was another successful day for the 3rd annual Barwon Heads "Kondak" Triathlon. Over 650 individual and team competitors took on the 400m swim, 14km cycle, and 4.4km run around the picturesque Barwon Heads and Ocean Grove course. As always we had a terrific number (230) of first time triathletes which is what the event is all about - having a go and challenging yourself.
There were some outstanding performances from top local athletes with Catherine Allison of Barwon Heads winning her division and the fastest overall Female time of 50:19, and Adam Conquest, of Torquay, winning the overall Male division in a time of 44:13, 30 seconds faster than the 2016 winner, Kirby Bourke, in 44:44.
Once again there was a fantastic atmosphere at the event with large crowds turning out to cheer on family and friends.
A big thank you to all of the sponsors, marshals and event staff at South West Race Management for making this great event possible. Everyone is already looking forward to the 2019 event!
