Triathlon Victoria is delighted to announce Dr Bridie O’Donnell, Head of the Office for Women in Sport and Recreation (Victorian Government) as our guest speaker for the 2018 Triathlon Victoria Awards.
Her extensive list of achievements spans both academic and sporting arenas. Starting as far back as 1998 when she graduated as Valedictorian from the University of Queensland Medical School to 2016 when she became the first Australian woman to make an attempt on the UCI World Hour record in 15 years, and set a new world record of 46.882km.
In between, O'Donnell managed to win Rowing National Championships, finish the Ironman World Triathlon Championships (Kona, Hawaii), win the National Time Trial title (cycling), and represent Australia at three World Cycling Championships.
She has always been a strong advocate for women in sport and leads the campaign for gender equality across all roles in sport and active recreation, including participation, competition, leadership, coaching, executive and the boardroom.
O'Donnell has just released her story ... Life and Death: a cycling memoir. Click here to purchase a copy or pick one up at the awards breakfast.
