Triathlon Victoria is calling for nominations for the prestigious Pierre de Coubertin Award, proudly supported by Department of Education and Training (DET) and presented by the Victorian Olympic Council (VOC).

The Pierre de Coubertin Award recognises students who demonstrate values, which are consistent with the Olympic Movement through participation in sporting activities. It acknowledges Year 10, 11 and 12 students who, although may not be an elite athlete, demonstrate the values of the Olympic Movement in sport and their everyday lives. 

Named after the founder of the modern Olympic Games, the awards are an initiative of the AOC and take place on an annual basis to recognise senior secondary students who demonstrate the A.S.P.I.R.E. Olympic values and attributes. Prior to the ceremony on June 22, each award recipient plus an additional 2 school representatives are invited to participate in an Academy. The event is free and students will be provided with refreshments throughout the day.

In conjunction with Olympic Day, celebrated internationally on June 23, the VOC and DET invite all State Sporting Associations (SSA) to nominate an athlete to receive this prestigious award.

The award presents:

• A unique opportunity for sport leaders to interact with Olympians.
• An opportunity to tour the National Sports Museum.
• An international award celebrated nationally.
• Every nominated student and their SSA receive a certificate.

The theme for this year is "Which Olympic athlete has been a role model to you and why?'

To be nominated for the Award, students must fulfil the selection criteria (found here), and email their nomination to Sue Sharples at info@vic.triathlon.org.au by Friday 11 May.

Triathlon Victoria will nominate one athlete to receive the Pierre de Coubertin Award and to take part in the annual Olympic Academy, and an additional two sport leaders, from years 10, 11 or 12 to attend the full day program as sport representatives.
