ALLEN & SLACK TAKE OUT XTERRA GREAT OCEAN ROAD

XTERRA champions Ben Allen and Jacqui Slack have taken out the male and female pro categoriesat the XTERRA Great Ocean Road 2014.  Allen charged to the finish line in 1:57:14, two minutes and fifty three seconds ahead of Roger Serrano from Spain, after a tough battle on the mountain bikecourse. Slack finished over 10 minutes ahead of second place Deanna Blegg.

 

XTERRA MALE 

Third in the male pro field was Drew Box, who led the race into the first change. Allen and Serrano
stayed right on the heels of each other into the bike until Allen got the edge in the final third of the
course and led into the run. Third place in the female pro category was Penny Hosken who finishedjust under a minute after Blegg, Slack proving too strong for both.  

Age-groupers lined up to race the XTERRA Triathlon event chasing Victorian Off-Road Championship status and qualification spots for the XTERRA World Championships in Hawaii with Anglesea local Sam Hume standing out with a 2:05:14 finish. Hundreds of other competitors took on the XTERRA Sprint Tri, 21km Trail Run and 10km Trail Run/Walk events.  Full pro and age-group results will be available via the XTERRA website.
