The NT Sprint Championships is an iconic race on the Triathlon Australia National Qualifying Series, offering triathletes the opportunity to gain points to wear the green and gold at the Age Group World Championships. Showcasing the beauty of Darwin and the Top End lifestyle, Race 8 is as unique as the Territory.

NT Sprint Distance Triathlon Championships 2016
COURSE
The race is held in East Point Reserve, whose peaceful beauty is just 15 minutes from the CBD and Darwin airport. With playground facilities and lush bushland, supporters are able to watch the action and cheer you on, in shaded comfort.
This race takes place during the tropical wet season which is hot and humid. Average daily temperatures range from 24C min - 32C max, with humidity over 70%; this can make temperatures feel like 36C+. If you are not used to racing in these conditions, please factor the effects of this climate into your race day preparations.
Swim
The swim leg is held in tranquil Lake Alexander, which provides the perfect 1 loop Sprint distance swim. Water temperature will be approximately 27-30 degrees, non-wetsuit swim.
Bike
The bike course will be on open roads, so road traffic rules will apply.
Traffic Management will be in place: Traffic lights at Dick Ward / Ross Smith flashing amber | Dickward Drive turnaround (just south of Totem Road) | Gilruth Avenue / East Point road intersection.
Run
The run takes you along the shaded coastal path through East Point, with one aid station, that you pass twice.
