TNT Academy Program Overview

This program is designed for kids 12+ wanting more from their training. The sessions are designed to take sport development to the next level in both technique of the fundamental movement patterns but also to challenge kids emotionally and intellectually. The term culminates in a live-in sports development camp in the school holidays.

Participants are expected to engage with a Triathlon Australia accredited coach on a regular basis, to participate in fundamental skill development sessions offered by the NTIS in Darwin and Alice Springs and to develop personal goals for skill improvement.

In conjunction with the Academy Program, the development camps are held 3 times a year,  April, June and September/October school holiday periods.

The camps integrate the delivery of holistic, long-term athlete development, education and tuition to athletes 12-19 years of age, their parents, coaches, officials and committee members with focusing on the Triathlon NT Key Development Areas. These include:

  • development of technical skills in general athletic proficiency,
  • run technique and agility,
  • swim technique and
  • cycling skills, as well as the tactical skills necessary to race in a pack.

Junior athletes and coaches also learn skills around the areas of sport psychology (team work, goal setting, and mental toughness), nutrition and hydration planning, and work on development of fundamental movement competencies to aid in injury prevention.

AGE GROUP:

The Triathlon NT Academy Program is open to juniors aged 12-19 years.

These sessions aren’t open to everyone as there is a required level of competency. For more information contact Tim Ellison, Pathway Manager: 0437 602 346
