What a year across triathlon and multisport.
Recently in the annual report, I reported that I’ve always enjoyed the fact that Triathlon Australia is a values driven organisation. My reflection on 2022 is that I have never seen a clearer example of our values at work.
This year, we again navigated COVID-19 variants, some of the worst natural disasters to impact events, and our sport dealing with what is now the new normal way of life. One thing for sure is that the triathlon community were there to support one another, and the resilience of our community to keep going has been a true story of triathlon values. Our race directors continued to deliver amazing race experiences and our clubs and members showed their support on the start line.
Triathlon Australia is in a great position moving into 2023. We’ve been through a large organisational change and it’s pleasing to see the team’s focus on what matters to members, clubs, race directors, technical officials, coaches, and other partner organisations. I would like to extend my thanks to each member of Triathlon Australia for your support of the triathlon community throughout the year.
Our strategy talks about three horizons: respond, recover, thrive. We initially focused on the response to the pandemic, and then we moved toward recovering and positioning the sport for the future. Now, thanks to the dedication of our members, we are primed to thrive. We have an exciting runway planned toward Brisbane 2032, and the best for triathlon is yet to come.
I wish you and your families well for this holiday period, and I hope to see you out there getting some training for the upcoming events.
Please feel to reach out to us if there’s anything we can do for you in your triathlon journey.
