Ironman 70.3 St George, North American Pro Championships saw a British double with Holly Lawrence and Alistair Brownlee dominating. It was Brownlee’s first real test in a stacked field and the double Olympic champion not only beat home the best in the world, Lionel Sanders second and Sebastian Kienle third, but broke Jan Frodeno’s 2014 course record by three minutes.
 
Utah is a stunning venue but one tough course, Ellis Salthouse finished third. 
 
“Not my greatest show ever ever, but I gave it all I had and am stoked to snag a podium.”
 
US based Joe Gambles was the first Aussie in seventh. Sam Appleton was next in ninth. Both are backing up next weekend at Ironman 70.3 Santa Rosa.

At Ironman 70.3 Busselton Dan Wilson stormed home on the run with a sub 1:13 to take his second 70.3 win in a time of 3:42:26. Multiple world champion Craig Alexander flexed his muscle to finished second with Rio Olympian Ryan Fisher third.
 
A breakthrough win for Katey Gibb, her first as a professional after finishing third at Busso the past two years. Jacqueline Thistleton also grabbed her first podium as a professional to finish 53 seconds behind with Kerry Morris taking third.

At Ironman Australia David Dellow held off a big challenge from last year’s winner Tim Reed to win and a reversal of the results from 2016. Early race leader Clayton Fettell finished third again.
 
An emotional win for Britain’s Laura Siddall claiming her first Ironman title in a time of 9:16:39. Michelle Gailey has not raced an Ironman since she won here in 2015, but she produced a performance that delivered her second place with Jessica Mitchell completing the podium.

In Asia Tim Van Berkel thrived in the steam conditions at Ironman 70.3 Vietnam to win from Russian Ivan Kalashnikov and Kiwi Mike Phillips. Van Berkel surged to the front of the race at the end of the bike leg and ran away from the field stopping the clock at 3:56:19. 
 
Australian Dimity-Lee Duke, who seemingly had the race in her grasp, slowed significantly late on the run, and the fast finishing Hungarian Anna Eberhardt-Halasz proved to good taking the win with Leanne Wood (NZL) rounding out the podium

Meanwhile Ben Allen finished second at the Xterra Tahiti – “Battle with Sam Osborne was fun! Both laying on the line & inflicting pain on one another. Happy to come away with 2nd.” Wife Jacqui went one better and claimed the Xterra Championship title.
