Gardner Takes Out Australian Cross Triathlon Title

Queensland’s Brodie Gardner has claimed victory at TreX Sunshine Coast on Saturday 5th November, claiming his second Australian Cross Triathlon title in his home state in front of family and friends.

Garden, who took out his first Australian Cross Triathlon title in 2017, finished the Hinterland course – 1500m swim, 28.5km mountain bike, 10.5km trail run - in 2:26:21, beating out second placed Taylor Charlton (2:33:22).

The duo battled neck-and-neck during the swim before Gardner built a gap on the bike to come into T2 in front. He lengthened his lead with a strong run to take the tape 7:01 minutes ahead of Charlton.

Garden backed up his efforts the following day in the Trail Run Australia Sunshine Coast event, finishing the 21km race in first place in the Male 30-39 category.

The 37-year-old now has his sights set on triathlon’s long course discipline with IRONMAN 70.3 Melbourne and IRONMAN Western Australia firmly on his radar to finish off a busy 2022.

Australian Cross Triathlon Champions were also crowned for Australia’s Age Groupers, who battled down the banks of spectacular Ewen Maddock dam.

Congratulations to all Australian Cross Triathlon Champions and competitors.
