Have you ever thought about representing Australia at the Age Group World Championships? Well, 2023 might be the year for you... 

World Triathlon have last week confirmed the 2023 Pontevedra World Triathlon Championship Finals will take place 20-24 September, 2023 in the Spanish northern city. 

The 2023 Championships will see World Champions crowned for Elite, U23 and Paratriathlon, as well as in the Age Group Standard distance triathlon, Age Group Super Sprint distance triathlon, and the Age Group Standard distance Aquabike. 

This gives Triathlon Australia members the chance to qualify and join the Australian Age Group team travelling to Spain next year, and here’s how... 

Aussies have the chance to earn selections points across World Qualifying Events (WQEs) and Australian Championships (double points), with events spanning across all Australian states and territories this season to give members the best chance at joining Team Aus. 

Standard Distance Triathlon Qualifying Events 

Athletes who would like to be selected for the 2023 World Triathlon Age Group Standard Distance Triathlon (Non-Draft Legal) World Championships event – Pontevedra must complete 2023 Australian Age Group Triathlon Team National Selection Races – Standard Distance Triathlon.

Athletes who would like to be selected for the 2023 World Triathlon Age Group Super Sprint Triathlon (Non-Draft Legal) World Championships event – Pontevedra must complete 2023 Australian Age Group Triathlon Team National Selection Races – Sprint Distance Triathlon. Triathlon Australia will not have individual 2023 Age Group Super Sprint Triathlon Team National Selection Races.

To earn points towards Australian Age Group team selection, athletes must hold a relevant Triathlon Australia Membership (Standard or Premium) and must ensure they enter to their nominated selection event with the correct date of birth, full names and membership numbers to match their Triathlon Australian membership.
