The race is on for the National Sprint and Long distance Championship Titles

With the Olympic year well underway, we have some exciting events to look forward to over the next month…..

We will see our age group members race for the National Sprint Distance Title in Canberra (29th Jan), and then our Elite athletes will join our age groupers to race for the National Long Course Title in Falls Creek (11th Feb).

In addition, Geelong will host the first round of our Australian National Triathlon Championship Series (12th Feb).

National Sprint Distance Title Race: Canberra, ACT 29th January 2012
The Capital Summer January Festival will host our National Sprint Title race and the second round of our National Junior Series. If you are vying for a place on the 2012 Age Group World Championships Sprint Distance team then Canberra is your chance to secure double points.

The festival surrounding the National Championships runs from Friday 27th – Sunday 29th and is a great event for all the family, including a kid’s race (7-13yrs), a novice race, a Lake Swim, a half marathon, a cycle race and a 10km run.

National Long Distance Title Race: Falls Creek, VIC 11th February 2012
The large picturesque alpine village of Falls Creek will host what has been named one of the most spectacular triathlon courses in Australia. The race acts as the National Long Distance Title race, as well as the Victorian Long Distance Championships.

The weekend will also host the Brooks Falls Creek Trail Running Festival, and the Giant Mountain Bike Challenge.

If you are vying for a place on the 2012 Age Group World Championships Long Distance team then Falls Creek is your chance to secure double points.

Australian National Triathlon Championship Series Round One: Geelong, VIC 12th February 2012
 2012 will be the second year of the Australian National Triathlon Championship Series, comprised of 3 major races; Geelong (12th Feb); Mooloolaba (25th March); and Sydney (15th April).

The series will kick off next month in Geelong as part of the Geelong Multi Sport Festival, which also includes the ITU Oceania Cup race for elites.

As our premier series, Triathlon Australia members can compete for points to determine the National Series Champion in each age group, and points accrued during the series will also contribute to qualification for the 2012 Age Group Olympic Distance team.
