The Australian Standard Duathlon Championships are just around the corner, and the excitement is building as athletes gear up for the final leg of the 2022/2023 Australian Championships Calendar.
Hosted by Elite Energy, the Canberra Duathlon will take place on Saturday 17 June in the nation's capital and is a key world qualifying event for those hoping to represent Team Australia on home soil next year in Townsville for the 2024 Multisport World Championships.
Canberra provides the opportunity for athletes to earn an Australian title and double selection points as well as automatic qualification (for eligible Age Groupers who place in the top five in their age group category) to earn a spot on Team Australia headed to Townsville in 2024^.
Participants can expect a challenging but exhilarating race as they run and bike through the beautiful city of Canberra and along Lake Burley Griffin. The course is designed to be fast and flat, with road surfaces in brilliant condition allowing participants to aim for personal bests.
Both run legs take place on the north-side shore of Lake Burley Griffin featuring views of the National Carillon on Queen Elizabeth II Island, The National Library and Parliament House.
The ride sees athletes battle down Parkes Way towards the Australian National Botanic Gardens and Telstra Tower, passing ANZAC Parade on the way.
Don’t miss the Australian Standard Duathlon Championships - the beautiful location, challenging course, and high stakes make for an adrenaline-fueled race that is sure to be a great winter hit-out!
