The Townsville Triathlon Festival promises to deliver as athletes from across Australia gather to participate in four prestigious Australian Championships Events, with the city of Townsville preparing for next year’s 2024 World Triathlon Multisport World Championships.

All the pulse-pounding racing action unfolds against the stunning backdrop of Strand Park, which also doubles as the event hub and transition area.

The swim courses follow a rectangular path, ensuring a fair and exciting competition. The bike courses, spanning one or three laps along The Strand, offer breathtaking views of the coastline. And, the run courses wind through the picturesque foreshore and historic Jezzine Barracks, treating participants to a scenic tour of Townsville's landmarks.

A mammoth lineup of Australian Championship races presents the opportunity to secure a spot on Team Australia for the 2024 World Triathlon Multisport World Championships.

Triathlon Australia members can automatically earn their place on Team Australia for our home World Championships by finish in the top-five of their age-group in any of the Australian Championship events.

The festival kicks off on August 18 with a trio of challenging championships events in various disciplines.

Distance: 5.5km Run, 17km Ride, 3.5km Run

Australian Cross Triathlon Championships (18 August)
Distance: 1km Swim, 17km Ride, 5.5km Run

Australian Aquathlon Championships (18 August)
Distance: 1km Swim, 5km Run

As the sun rises on August 19, the festival continues with the highly anticipated:

Australian Sprint Duathlon Championships (19 August)
Distance: 5km Run, 20km Bike, 2.5km Run
