Triathlon Australia – Volunteer Independent Board Role

The Triathlon Australia national governing board consists of 6 elected volunteer directors and are supported by up to 3 appointed directors each year that fill specific skill or experience requirements. Applications are currently sought for an experienced individual to join our dynamic governance team and apply your skills towards our ambitious projects for the sport at a unique time. Whilst our current environment is providing significant challenges for sport, Triathlon Australia is well positioned to be agile and responsive for our members. The sport has a series of projects already commenced that we are seeking to continue in order to provide stability and confidence into the future. 

About the business

Triathlon Australia is the official National Sporting Organisation responsible for the management and delivery of the sports of triathlon, duathlon, aquathlon, paratriathlon and multisport within Australia. 

Triathlon Australia (TA) has 8 affiliated State and Territory Triathlon Associations. Known as the STTAs, they are the official members of the national body. In addition, we have approximately 16,900 individual members and 234 affiliated triathlon clubs.

Our purpose is to enrich the sporting landscape by issuing a unique challenge anyone can accept and continuously grow, strengthen and connect the triathlon family with every Starting Line in Australia.

Skills and experience

Governing the sport of triathlon in Australia requires a progressive and enterprising Board with a combination of skills, now more than ever.

As an independent director, your abilities and experience can help shape policy, strategy and operations across a wide variety of projects and the sport as a whole. 

As we embark on our next growth period there is no better time to take up a position with our assiduous board and help shape our sport through the next critical phase.  

Our focus for the current vacancy is on experience in the area of human resources with a particular focus on organisational change projects.
 
Board meetings are held monthly, predominately by teleconference, with various committee meetings as required. This is a voluntary position.
