2023 World Triathlon Multisport Championships Ibiza: Three New World Champions and Multiple Medals

Ten days, 79 Aussies, one beautiful island.

The 2023 World Triathlon Multisport Championships Ibiza delivered an absolute festival of swimming, biking and running in all its forms!

The team Age Group Aussies took to the start line across six events, battling athletes from other nations for World Championship honours and demonstrating exceptional talent and performances throughout.

In total the Australian Age Group Multisport Team are heading home with three gold, three silver and five bronze medals.

Three new Australian World Champions were crowned with Hannah-Lee Young (F 25-29) securing the title in the Cross Triathlon, Ana Oertel (F 55-59) in Aquabike, and Penelope Nevill (F 30-34) in the Sprint Duathlon.

Two Aussies are heading home with multiple medals. Ana Oertel (F 55-59), who took the World Championship crown in Aquabike, also bagged bronze in the Cross Triathlon, while Marion Hermitage (F 60-64) secured silver medals in both Long Distance Triathlon & Aquathlon events.

Katherine Ryan (F 50-54) also secured silver in the Standard Distance Duathlon, while Katherine Smith (F 25-29 Aquathlon), Karen Wood (F 60-64 Aquathlon), Josh Shanahan (M 16-19 Sprint Duathlon) and Bronwyn Humphrys (F 30-34 Sprint Duathlon) all earned bronze medals.

The World Triathlon Multisport Championships head to Townsville, Australia, for the 2024 edition of championships in just over a year from now!
