Aussies feature in Oceania Cup Wanaka Friday Night Showdown

Aussies feature in Oceania Cup Wanaka Friday Night Showdown

The season’s first Oceania Triathlon Cup is set to be a thriller in a Friday Night Showdown in New Zealand with some of the best elite athletes in the Oceania region set to compete over the stunning Lake Wanaka sprint course (swim 750m, bike 18km, run 5km).

In the men’s race, New Zealand’s Tayler Reid starts in top position followed by Aussies Luke Willian, and Jake Birtwhistle - off the back of his inaugural IRONMAN 70.3 win in Tasmania - with fifteen fellow Australians joining Willian and Birtwhistle including ACT’s Callum McClusky, NSW’s Luke and Jayden Schofield, QLD’s up and comers Toby Powers and Brad Course.

The women's competition will be just as exciting, with Emma Jeffcoat, Ellie Hoitink, and Jessica Ewart-McTigue all set to compete against top New Zealand women Ainsley Thorpe and Nicole Van Der Kaay in a field of 26.

The competition will be tough, but our Aussies are more than up to the challenge, and they will be looking to give their all in the season opener as the road to Paris officially begins. Racing will get underway at 6.30pm local time, and fans can expect to witness some fierce Oceania competition.
