ITU World Cup Montreal

Ashleigh Gentle has produced silver at the ITU World Cup in Montreal this morning behind the in-form Flora Duffy (BER) over the Sprint Distance race. The result is a confidence boost for Gentle that all is on track for her debut in Rio. In promising signs for Emma Jackson she finished strongly, just missing the podium in fourth.  It was not the day out that Erin Densham had hoped for wanting a good hit out before Rio, but the effects of the mid air threat during her flight to Montreal and ensuing incidents took a toll, withdrawing after the swim.

Camp Pendleton Triathlon
The first lady of Olympic triathlon Michellie Jones is on the verge of creating history when she will compete as a Guide to Katie Kelly at the Paralympics was again on top of the podium at the Camp Pendleton Triathlon.

Ironman 70.3 Asia Pacific Championships
Tim Reed made it back to back victories in Cebu, the Bryon Bay based athlete unleashing a 1:20:02 run split that saw him cross the line three minutes plus clear of Australian long course royalty Craig Alexander, who described the final kilometres of the race on twitter post race. “ I haven’t suffered like I did today in that final 13km for a long time. Back in the hotel curled up in a little ball. Going to sleep it off!”

Brisbane’s Sam Betten battled hard all day and was rewarded with the final podium spot.

Sunshine Coast based Caroline Steffen showed her class in the end, running away from Radka Vodickova after the pair rode together for 90km, to claim an unprecedented fifth title. Australia’s Sarah Crowley has been so consistent and not off the podium, nor was she today taking third place.

The rematch between Reed and Tim Van Berkel didn’t eventuate, Berkel crashing on pre race training ride, sustaining some nasty injuries that ruled him out but switched his talents to commentary duties.

Yeppoon Triathlon Festival 

Clayton Fettell was in another class putting together a strong combination across the board to easily win from Ryan Waddington and Matthew Bates.

Sunshine Coast based Kirra Seidel also combined a strong performance to dominate the women’s race from, Elle Leahy in her first Standard distance race, Rachael Paxton round out the podium.

2016 Malmö ETU Sprint Triathlon European Cup 
Matt Baker was the best of the Australian’s at the 2016 Maimo ETU Sprint Triathlon European Cup , just 32 seconds behind the winner. Joel Tobin White (16th), Christian Wilson (24th), Max Neumann (29th) and Jack Van Stekelenburg (38th).

In the women’s race Gold Coaster Danielle De Francesco was (8th), Laura Dennis (12) and Joanne Miller (15th)

London Triathlon

The Aussies lined up in numbers at the infamous London Triathlon and filled the podium spots across the board. Charlotte McShane took line honours from the Brits in a slick time of 1:56:33, Natalie Van Coevorden was next in fourth and National Talent Academy member and world championship bound Sophie Malowiecki was sixth. 

Queenslander Dan Wilson was second in the Elite race, Matthew Roberts, third and Kenji Nener fourth.

Queenslander Zoe Leahy continued her World Championship preparation with a win in the Junior Elite category.

Meanwhile Emma Jeffcoat finished seventh at the Nyon FISU World University Triathlon Championship in Sweden overnight.
