Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Group (EDIAG) Expressions of Interest

A Sport For Everyone

As part of the whole of sport strategic plan, Triathlon Australia and each State and Territory is committed to making triathlon and multisport easier to access, more relevant and more rewarding for more people of all backgrounds, ages, genders, sexual orientations and ability levels.

We are therefore seeking to establish an Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Group to provide strategic advice and recommendations to the Board regarding policy, practices, initiatives and issues to ensure its objectives are aligned and achieved. Triathlon Australia want all Australians to see themselves in the sport, to be a contemporary leader in sport-based inclusion, diversity and access and to be a welcoming sport of choice for all Australians. This Advisory Group will play a critical role in helping TA achieve this goal.

Australia is filled with culturally, linguistically and gender diverse communities that are looking for sporting options that celebrate this diversity, promote inclusion and most importantly, make people feel like they belong – one of triathlon’s key values.

Sport plays an important role in promoting social inclusion, community health/well-being, values and anti-discrimination. It brings people together in a single united activity. The Board is now calling for Expressions of Interest from people who wish to be considered for a position on the advisory group.

To express your interest please email the Triathlon Australia Chair directly president@triathlon.org.au to provide:

  • Your personal contact details
  • Upload a brief CV if appropriate
  • Provide any additional information on your skills, knowledge and lived experiences you wish to be considered
  • Please also include responses to the following questions:
  1.  What is your perspective on equity, diversity and inclusion in sport (triathlon if appropriate) currently?
  2. What do you hope to achieve as a member of this advisory group? What does success look like to you?

We strongly encourage applications from Indigenous Australians, people with disability, people from diverse faith, cultural and linguistic backgrounds, and LGBTIQA+ identified individuals.
The advisory group is designed to broadly represent the diversity of the triathlon landscape. TA will give special consideration to candidates from under-represented groups, and seeks a broad range of skills and experience. Previous committee or board experience is not deemed essential for this role.

It is anticipated that there will be a high level of interest in this advisory group and for those not selected, the Triathlon Australia Board will consider establishing special interest groups to provide expert advice where possible.

Applications close COB Friday 21 May 2021. Please view the Terms of Reference here.
