Jones Leads Stellar Team for 2023 World Triathlon Age Group Championships

Olympic silver medalist Michellie Jones will lead the charge on an incredible team announced to represent Australia at the 2023 World Triathlon Age Group Championships in Pontevedra.

Widely regarded as one of the top triathletes of all time, Jones has left an indelible mark on the sport with her numerous accomplishments.

 Her stellar career includes an Olympic silver medal, two ITU Triathlon World Championships and an IRONMAN World Championship. Jones also won a gold medal at the 2016 Summer Paralympics as a guide for Katie Kelly, when paratriathlon made its debut at the Paralympics.

 Jones' extraordinary achievements have earned her a place in the Triathlon Australia Hall of Fame, IRONMAN Hall of Fame, World Triathlon Hall of Fame and the prestigious Sports Australia Hall of Fame, where she stands among a select few exceptional athletes.

She is joined by 87 talented team members who have been selected to showcase their skills in the Standard Distance Triathlon, Standard Distance Aquabike, and Super Sprint Triathlon events, taking place between the 20th and 24th of September.

 

Jones will be eyeing up a third Age Group Sprint Triathlon World Championships having clinched the crown in Edmonton in 2014 and Rotterdam in 2017.

A host of athletes return to the team following impressive performances at the 2022 World Triathlon Age Group Triathlon World Championships, which were held in Abu Dhabi.

Reigning Standard Distance Aquabike World Champion Rowland Cook returns to the team, along-side Andrew Miano, who claimed a silver medal in the 2022 Standard Distance Aquabike World Championship.
