Triathlon Australia today welcomed the appointment of Marlene Elliott as a director to the Triathlon Australia (TA) Board.
 
Marlene brings a wealth of experience to the TA Board, with a fifteen-year career as a Director at KPMG, Non-Executive Director of Commonwealth Games Australia and Workways Australia.
 
A former Board member of Netball Victoria, 2013 – 2020, Marlene comes to TA with a deep knowledge of not-for-profits, and sport and community-based organisations. This is further enhanced by her experience as an Associate Director with VUCA Trusted Advisors, a boutique advisory firm providing governance, strategy, board performance review and executive search services and her passion for all sport.

With strong strategy, government and marketing skills and capabilities, Marlene joins the board during a period of change and opportunity for TA.

Speaking on her appointment, Marlene said that she is excited by the opportunity to join the Triathlon Australia Board.

“I’m excited to be contributing towards the success and growth of Triathlon Australia. I am driven by my purpose every day, to enable others to shine and succeed,” Marlene said.

“In a critical juncture for triathlon with an operational review underway, Marlene’s strong skill set in management change and HR will be extremely valuable,’ says Triathlon Australia President Michelle Cooper.

 “Marlene’s experience across the business spectrum adds to the strength of our incumbent Board as we forge ahead with our ambitious list of large projects we have set ourselves to complete, including our new strategic plan, along with membership and participation pathway reviews.“

An expert in client/customer experience, analysing and translating feedback to increase retention, driving profitable growth and enabling organisational change, Marlene has extensive experience working closely with CEOs, Executives and Boards to increase performance, deliver on brand promise and achieve financial and strategic objectives. 

As an experienced Executive, Marlene has also successfully led and motivated teams to enable organisational and behavioural change to embed a customer centric culture. 

Outside of the workplace, Marlene is a former netball player and coach at both State and National Level. Based in Melbourne, Marlene has a passion for all sport and exercise and their ability to promote a healthy lifestyle and create community engagement.

The Triathlon Australia national governing board consists of 6 elected volunteer directors and are supported by up to 3 appointed directors each year that fill specific skill or experience requirements. All Triathlon Australia Board positions are voluntary.
