Qualifying calendar for 2023 Australian Age Group Team Announced with sights set on Spain and Germany

Triathlon Australia is today delighted to announce the 2022/2023 Australian Age Group National Series, featuring World Qualifier Events and Australian Championships across the country. The Age Group National Series will provide the opportunity for Triathlon Australia members to qualify to represent Australia at the 2023 World Triathlon Age Group Triathlon and Multisport Championships.

Throughout the 2022/2023 season, the Australian Age Group National Series will see Australian Championships and World Qualifying Events take place across all eight States and Territories in a bid to provide all members accessible racing during these uncertain times.

The Australian Championships are the pinnacle of the series across each discipline and provide age group athletes the chance to gain automatic qualification positions on the 2023 Australian Age Group Triathlon and Multisport Teams and earn double qualification points.

Australian age group athletes can seek selection to the 2023 Australian Age Group Multisport Team across six separate disciplines including Sprint Distance Duathlon (Draft Legal), Standard Distance Duathlon, Cross Triathlon, Aquathlon, Aquabike and Long Distance Triathlon which will be held in Ibiza, Spain (dates to be confirmed by World Triathlon).

Short course athletes can seek selection onto the 2023 Australian Age Group Triathlon Team at two separate World Triathlon Age Group World Championships. Age group events on offer include Sprint Distance Triathlon (Draft Legal) and the Age Group Mixed Team Relay (Draft Legal) which will be held in Hamburg, Germany while the Standard Distance Triathlon, Standard Distance Aquabike and Super Sprint Triathlon will be held in Pontevedra, Spain (dates to be confirmed by World Triathlon).

With changes to the structure of Age Group World Championships over the past couple of seasons, Triathlon Australia has extended the Australian Age Group Team selection period to enable athletes access to more selection opportunities. See specific selection periods for each World Championship in 2023 below. During this selection period for the Australian Age Group Team, a number of nominated 2022 Australian Age Group Team Selection Events will also be noted as selection events for 2023 Australian Age Group Teams.
