Australia’s 2022 domestic performance calendar for elite, paratriathlon, U23, junior and youth athletes features five Oceania Cups and Championships, and three stand-alone Australian Youth & Junior Championships over January to April 2022. 

Aussies will be gearing up for a return to international racing in 2022, but first the domestic performance season will heat up in Australia and New Zealand for elite, paratriathlon, U23, junior and youth athletes. 

Australia’s paratriathletes will start their season in Stockton, Newcastle competing at the 2022 Oceania Paratriathlon Championships on Sunday 6 February over the new sprint course (750m swim, 20km cycle, 5km run).  

PTVI athletes will be racing for crucial world paratriathlon ranking points in Stockton, with the top nine (9) CGF ranked athletes on the World Para triathlon rankings as at 28 March 2022 within each medal event, each granted one (1) qualification slot^ (to a maximum of two (2) quota positions for each event) for Birmingham. 

From Stockton, racing will head further south to Devonport, Tasmania over 26-27 February for a series of status events including the Australian Paratriathlon Championships, Oceania Triathlon Cup and Oceania Relay Championships, before elites cross the ditch in March. 

It’ll be New Zealand’s turn to host the Oceania Championships – with the Oceania Triathlon Championships at Marra Triathlon shortly followed by the Oceania Sprint Championships at the Taranaki Triathlon Festival, New Plymouth. For Australia’s Birmingham hopefuls the Taranaki Tri Festival on 27 March will also provide the opportunity to secure automatic nomination* to Commonwealth Games Australia (CGA) for selection on the triathlon team to represent Australia.  
 
Racing then returns to Australia for the Super Sprint Oceania Triathlon Cup Gold Coast (with World Triathlon ranking points up for grab) and Mixed Relay Invitational, before the international season kicks into gear with two Korean World Cups, WTCS and WPS Yokohama in May 2022. 

For Australia’s up and coming, the 2022 performance calendar includes stand-alone Australian Youth & Junior Championship events starting with the Australian Mixed Relay Championships at Victoria’s brand new Werribee South Beach Triathlon on 29-30 January 2022.  

The new Victorian event features the Australian Youth & Junior Mixed Relay Championships on the first day of racing – where athletes will represent their home state - and is followed by individual events on the Sunday with the exciting Eliminator format to close out a weekend of highly competitive draft legal racing. 

The Australian Junior Sprint Championships will then return to Tasmania’s Devonport Triathlon, before the Oceania Junior Championships and Oceania Junior Triathlon Cup at the Marra Sprint Triathlon and Taranaki Tri Festival in New Zealand. 

The junior and youth performance calendar culminates in a new three-day Australian Super Sprint Championships event at Runaway Bay over 11-13 April in Queensland. Juniors will also have the opportunity to race in the elite field at the Oceania Triathlon Cup Gold Coast and Mixed Relay Invitational on 23-24 April 2022.
