Triathlon Australia Announce 2022/23 Australian Triathlon & Multisport Championships Calendar

Racing will head to Townsville QLD, Sunshine Coast QLD, St Kilda VIC, Huskisson NSW,  Mooloolaba QLD and Canberra ACT for the 2022/2023 Australian Age Group Championships.

The eight-race series will see age group athletes battle across triathlon and multisport disciplines in their quest to be named Australian Champion.

Townsville Triathlon Festival will host the Aquathlon and Sprint Duathlon Championships in August 27-28, as the city continues to prepare for the 2024 World Triathlon Multisport Championships. The flat and fast course sees both races start and finish at beachfront promenade, Strand Park, and runs through the iconic Jezzine Barracks and loops around to follow the coastline.

Trex Sunshine Coast will host the Cross Triathlon Championships on October 22 in the heart of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. Based on the banks of spectacular Ewen Maddock dam the course includes some of Australia’s best fast and flowing single track mountain bike trails, and gritty off-road running trails.

The Sprint Triathlon Championships return to the shores of St Kilda for Race 3 of the 2XU Triathlon Series on January 15 to start 2023.  Victoria’s premier triathlon series will see participants contend through the bayside suburbs in the shortest Australian Championship race category.

The crystal-clear waters and white sandy beaches of one of Australia’s most loved and iconic long course races, the Big Husky Triathlon Festival on February 26, will host the Long Distance Championships. Huskisson will also host this year’s Aquabike Championships.

Athletes will return to the Sunshine Coast for the Standard Triathlon Championships at Mooloolaba Triathlon on March 12. The race starts in the tropical waters off Mooloolaba Beach before a spin down the Sunshine Coast motorway and run to finish along the Esplanade.

The Standard Duathlon Championships return to Canberra in 2023. The capitals favourite course features iconic views of landmarks including The National Library and Parliament House Telstra Tower and ANZAC Parade.

Townsville,  Trex Sunshine Coast, St Kilda and Mooloolaba will also provide the opportunity for athletes to earn a spot on Team Australia for the 2023 World Championships headed to Ibiza, Spain (Aquathlon, Sprint Duathlon and Cross Triathlon), Hamburg, Germany (Sprint Triathlon) and Pontevedra, Spain (Standard Triathlon).

Stay tuned for the 2024 Australian Age Group Multisport Team Selection Policy (Townsville) and Selection Events which will be published on 24 August 2022.
