Triathlon Australia launch aligned workforce

Triathlon Australia launch aligned workforce

The launch of the new-look structure marks a major milestone towards an optimal operating model for the delivery of triathlon within Australia.

Through bringing the Queensland, Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia and Northern Territory workforces together with Triathlon Australia, services, programs and initiatives will be aligned nationally but delivered locally for members, clubs and the broader triathlon community.

Triathlon Australia’s new organisational structure features functional teams, driven by a new executive leadership team across High Performance, Events & Technical, Commercial, Marketing & Communications, Finance & Corporate Services, Sport Services, Age Group and Integrity.

Triathlon Australia President Michelle Cooper says the new structure will enable a more connected workforce to deliver on triathlon’s strategic goals.

“Key to the design of our aligned workforce was putting in place an organisational structure that connects triathlon, supports growth, innovation, collaboration and leadership, with a customer-centric approach to deliver on the whole of sport vision and strategic goals. Importantly it also provides scope for enhancement as discussions with New South Wales, the ACT and Western Australia progress over time.

“The shift to a functional organisation structure creates efficiencies through alignment of resources while enhancing state servicing through supporting State Managers to focus on local delivery in contrast to previous structures requiring end to end business oversight.”

State Boards have evolved to play a key role in contributing to the development of triathlon’s strategic plan representing the interest of local members and ensuring a thriving triathlon community in local states.
“They (States) will be represented by their presidents on an advisory committee, a strategic sub-committee of the Triathlon Australia Board, ensuring both oversight and influence in the success of the organisation,” said Cooper.

Under the new structure, the Sport Services team will be focussed on the delivery of triathlon services and programs for members, coaches, clubs and participants across Australia. The function brings together State Managers with dedicated resources across triathlon’s core delivery areas of membership, clubs, coaching and programs.

Through the new operating model, initiatives for club development and collaboration with key sports partners are already underway with the roll-out of a Club Education Series, Grant Writing Assistance Program for Clubs and a National Race Director Summit planned for September on the Gold Coast.

Key recent appointments boost the calibre of the executive leadership team including Alex Anasson, who joins from Aus Cycling Operations to lead the Sport Services team, respected race director Toby Keegan, who takes on the Head of Events & Technical position following 8 years with IRONMAN, and experienced administrator Adam Kyle who joins as the National Integrity Manager from the Australian Sports Commission.
