Following the introduction of the highly successful Foundation Coach Training Program during 2018. The Triathlon Australia Coach Development team is excited to announce the implementation of the new and improved Development Coach Training Program. 

The updated Development Coach Training Program continues the coach centred learning environment to facilitate the practical application of quality coaching skills  and is designed to further develop the skills of current Foundation Coaches to assist triathletes through their triathlon journey.

The Development Coach Training Program is the second level for coaches to progress within the National Coaching Framework [NCF] and will be rolled out nationally starting in in the second half of 2019. This updated program aligns with Triathlon Australia’s commitment to improve the quality of coaches at all levels of the sport and marks the next stage of evolution in triathlon coach development in Australia.

“Athletes learn and develop through quality coaching,” said Triathlon Australia’s National Manager of Coaching Pathways, Graeme Hill. “As coaches, we must allow our athletes to experience the sport of triathlon in a positive, supportive and safe environment, and our role as coaches at the community level is to facilitate that experience. 

Through the updated Development Coach Training Program, coaches will be empowered with knowledge and practices to create a positive, safe, learning environment for athletes enjoying recreational participation in triathlon.”
